Trauma therapy

Trauma can affect how you think, feel, and relate to the world around you.

You may feel on edge, disconnected, easily triggered, or overwhelmed — even when you want to feel calm and in control.

Trauma is not only held in the mind, but also in the body.
This is why it’s important to work with it in a holistic and supportive way.

Everyone experiences trauma differently.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and your experience is valid.

Unresolved trauma may show up as:

  • anxiety, fears, or phobias

  • intrusive or distressing thoughts

  • emotional overwhelm or difficulty regulating emotions

  • feeling disconnected, numb, or “outside your body”

  • withdrawing from people or relationships

  • difficulty with trust or intimacy

  • sleep disturbances or changes in appetite

  • feeling “stuck” in past experiences or reliving them

At times, it can feel like there is no way out.

But with the right support, it is possible to process what has happened and begin to feel safer in yourself again.

I offer trauma therapy in Edinburgh and online, using an integrative, trauma-informed approach.

This includes:

  • EMDR (to process distressing memories)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • somatic (body-based) techniques

  • talking therapy

Together, we work not only with thoughts, but also with the deeper emotional and physiological patterns that trauma creates.

As therapy progresses, many clients begin to feel:

  • less triggered and more stable

  • more connected to themselves and others

  • a greater sense of calm and safety

Working through trauma can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone.
